This is a nice place to stay and I labored over which hotel for weeks and was somewhat disappointed w. my final decision. I should have stayed at Desert Gardens for a couple of reasons: 1. any Voyages hotel guest can use the Sails in the Desert pool so, you have non-Sails guests coming to your pool and by 12pm there are no more chairs! For what appears to be an "exclusive" hotel it is not for what you pay. 2. the staff was few and far between; I saw a patron actually porr himself coffee from behind the restaurant counter at breakfast 3. at check-in, the receptionist looked shocked and annoyed that I pre-paid using travel agency, she became very snippy with me even after I showed her the travel agency paperwork. 3. We get to the room and the curtain is broken and there is a whole in the deck door which meant we would let in those darn black flies. All-in-all this is a nice hotel for the Outback but does NOT compare to real 5 star hotels! I say, save the money and book the Desert Gardens as you will need the cash as food is insanely expensive in the outback, $3.50 for a soda and $8 for a box of cookies from the grocery store which is in town! Needless to say we ate everything that was offered on our tours! Plus the food is just average, they do not have gourmet chefs here, I ordered risotto and got minute rice! The Sails are grogeous at the hotel and that's what sold me BUT there are sails in the "town" and at other hotels so, I felt kind of betrayed by the use of this detail elsewhere in Ayers Rock Resort.
